RACE VIDEO: Region I-5A Boys' 4x200m!

JEREMIAH BOUDREAUX (BLUE) HAD THE EYE OF THE VIKING ON THE HOME STRETCH!

Of all the race video from the Region 1-5A Meet in Natchitoches on Wednesday, there one is one that has been watched more than any other. It's the Boys' 4x200, where the Airline Viking quartet of Ladarius Epps, Cameron Jefferson, Kye Lehr, and Jeremiah Boudreaux brought back the gold medals to Viking Drive.

It's easy to understand why the race video has so many views. The relay came down to the wire. Going into the final two legs of the relay, five teams were in the mix for the win. Lehr advanced the Vikings just ahead of ASH on the third leg, while Ruston seemed to have a slight advantage.

Once Airline junior Jeremiah Boudreaux got the stick from Lehr and ran the far curve, all bets were off as Boudreaux powered around the curve and then battled his way across the finish line. Carencro's Koen Beavers, who would--just a few events later win the 100m--made the Boudreaux and the Vikings earn the victory.

Airline's winning time was 1:27.93. Carencro finished with a 1:27.99.

Coming in third place was Ruston with a 1:28.15. Finishing fourth--thus just missing out on qualifying for the LHSAA Class 5A Championship--was Comeaux (1:28.16).

Imagine that, Comeaux runs a 1:28.16, finishes fourth and does not qualify for the LHSAA Class 5A State Championship. Meanwhile, in Region 2-5A, Woodlawn (Baton Rouge) wins the regional title with 1:28.18.

Wow.

The only solace Comeaux can take away is that they are not alone. St. Augustine ran a 1:28.23 and failed to qualify out of Region 3-5A, who will be well represented at state with the three top seeds--Holy Cross (1:26.25), John Curtis (1:26.74), and Edna Karr (1:26.83).

Hear what the Vikings had to say after their Region 1-5A 4x200 win.
