No freshman thrower in the state had a better Week No. 1 than Anacoco's Olivia Chapman. She won the shot put (34-9) and finished as the runner up in the discus (91-6.5) at the DeRidder Dragon Relays. Her throw in the shot put ranks No. 7 among all throwers in the state, and also ranks No. 21 in the nation among all freshmen throwers.
Two freshmen high jumpers had excellent outdoor openers. St. Thomas More's Marvel Potier cleared 5-2 to win the Charles Lancon Invite. St. Joseph's Kennedy Papillion cleared the same height to win the Catholic Tip Off Meet. Currently, there are only seven freshmen high jumpers in the nation who have gone higher than Potier and Papillion.
Speaking of nationally ranked, Ana Robinson finds herself just outside of the top ten freshmen girls in the javelin after week No. 1. Robinson had a best throw of 100-2 to finish second at the Cedar Creek Meet. The throw ranks Robinson Nol 11 in the nation in the Class of 2026.
