VOTE: MileSplit LA Girls' Athlete of the Month! (Feb.)

MileSplit (Before Pick)

Here are the winners of February MileSplit LA Performer of the Week polls. Now, their supporters will determine if they will be February's Athlete of the Month. The winner will move on to compete for Athlete of the Year. This poll will close on Saturday at 9pm.

SINCERE WILSON (SCOTLANDVILLE) - Won an early poll in February after an impressive performance at the McNeese Indoor No. 2 where she finished second in the 55m (7.40) and triple jump (36-2) and finished fourth in the long jump (17-2). Both jump marks were personal records. While she wasn't able to hit those marks at the LHSAA State Indoor Meet, look for Wilson to bounce back and help the Lady Hornets defend their LHSAA Class 5A state outdoor title.

QUINCY SIMON (NORTHSIDE) - Was the performer of the week after an impressive personal record 58.64 at the Last Chance Meet, where she finished fourth. Her 59.94 at the LHSAA State Indoor Meet was good enough for sixth place. Simon did have a personal record in the 60m at the state indoor meet. She ran 7.76 in the prelims to make the finals. In the finals, she ran 7.86 to finish in eighth place.

DEMETRIA HARRIS (HUNTINGTON)- Finished second in both the 60m hurdles (9.23) and long jump (18-3.25) at the LHSAA State Indoor Meet. The long jump mark is an indoor personal record for Harris. The only time Harris has had a better jump is in the 2022 District 1-4A championship, when she won with a jump of 18-7.

REESE JOHNSON (MANDEVILLE) - Finished second in the Division I LHSAA State Indoor 60m (7.62). Johnson got better every time she stepped on the track during the 2023. It started with a 7.82 in the prelims at The Gallaria Games in Birmingham in December. In that meet and her second meet of the year--the LSU High School Classic--Johnson ran her fastest time in the prelims, but figured out how to save her best for the finals as the indoor season.
