MileSpilt LA Future Star: Central Lafourche's Camryn Falgout

CENTRAL LAFOURCHE'S CAMRYN FALGOUT TALKS ABOUT HER RACE AT RUNNINGLANE

Last year, there was nothing spectacular about Camryn Falgout's freshman season at Central Lafourche. When it was over, she was ranked No. 172. Her best race was a 20:49.85 at the LHSAA Class 5A Region 3 Meet.

Not bad for a freshman, but--as the saying goes "good is the enemy of great."

The sophomore has show she is willing to put in the work to be great.

Falgout continued to work through track season, where she qualified for the 2022 LHSAA Class 5A State Outdoor Championships where she finished No. 9 in the 3200m with a 12:38.28. For her, good was not good enough.

Her hard work paid off as she finished the 2022 season ranked No. 15 in the state--with only two Class of 2025 runners ranked ahead of her.

For this reason, Falgout is this week's MileSplit LA's Future Star

Falgout was the District 7-5A Champion (19:26.48). It was her second win in as many weeks as she won the Bronco XC Stampede (19:18.12) the week before district.

She finished just outside of the top ten at the 2022 LHSAA D-I State Cross Country Meet. Her 18:50.80 was good enough for 11th place.

But she didn't stop there.

Falgout was one of approximately 100 Louisiana runners to travel to Huntsville, AL to race in the Garmin RunningLane Championships

On a muddy course, Falgout finished No. 179 with a 5K time of 20:59.

"It wasn't that good," Falgout said. "There was so much noise and I was sore."

Another adjustment for Falgout was the sheer number of runners.

"I usually run by myself in the front," Falgout said. "It was a good experience. I'm just ready for track season."

Falgout told MileSplit LA's Mandi Monistere she will be competing indoors.
