TASTY RACE: 2022 LHSAA State Indoor D-I Boys' 1600m!



      If you were to ask Zachary's Rhen Langley, there are some LHSAA championships races he would like to have back. The 2022 LHSAA D-I Boys' State Indoor championship meet--during his high school career. Langley came across in 4:18.90. 
      Langley led the race from start to finish, and Ruston's Caleb Babineaux, while giving chase to Langley, was never able to catch the LSU commit and finished in second (4:22.19)--just barely. 
       Zachary's  Caleb Ackman closed hard and would have overtaken Babineaux, but ran out of real estate and finished third with a 4:22.28.

      Langley turned around and saw his teammate lying on the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse track and gave him a congratulatory hug.
       Eight of the top ten perfromances in the Louisiana during 2022 came from the LHSAA State Indoor Division I 1600m race. Six of the eight were seniors. Jesuit's Patrick Dowd, who finished eighth in the race (4:30.19), joins Langley as the only returner.
