SprintNOLA's Aaliyah Lane Ready for AAU National Qualifier!

While the nation's best college athletes were in Eugene, Oregon at the NCAA Outodoor Championships last weekend, the nation's best 12-year old girls 800m runner-- Sprint NOLA's Aaliyah Lane-- was at the Louisiana Governor's Games in New Orleans rewriting the meet's record book.

If her picture looks familiar, it should. She was our first MileSplit LA Future Star. She was selected due to the extraordinary indoor season she was having. Lane has showed no signs of slowing down. In fact, she is getting faster.

At the meet this weekend, she won the 200m (26.12), 400m (57.11), and her favorite event..the 800m (2:16.74). All of those times are new meet records. The old 800m record was 19-years old. Her time gives her the US#1 for 12-year old girls in the 800m.

Now, Lane will turn her attention to the AAU Region 11 National Qualifier in Hammond, Louisiana, where she will compete in the same three events.
While she is favored in the 800 and 400, she will have quality competition from K-Y Track Club's Asia Bell and Kaylee Augillard. Bell's listed performance bests are 2:20.00 in the 800m and 59.00 in the 400m. Augillard has a listed performance best of 59.0 in the 400m.
In the 200m, Lane is currently the No. 2 ranked performer behind FastNFurious Track Club's Jaden Garrett, who has a listed performance best of 25.21.
