SHREVE'S MARQUEZ STEVENSON SPRINTS TO AN LHSAA CLASS 5A 400m STATE TITLE!

       Insane! 

       That is the only adequate description for amount of young 400 meter talent in Louisiana during the 2022 season. If having eight of the top 10 in the state returning for 2023 doesn't get you excited for next Spring, you need to check your pulse and see if you are still alive.

        Marquez "Macho" Stevenson ran the state's fastest time at the Region 1-5A Meet on April 27, only to have Catholic's Winston Decuir lower it the very next day with a 47.18 at the Region 2-5A Meet. When it mattered--on Saturday, May 7th at the LHSAA Class 5A State Outdoor Meet--it was Stevenson who came out on top with a season best of 47.18. 

         Kaplan's Gabriel Clement (47.81) broke 48 second at his Region 2-3A meet. Of course he was pushed by Lake Charles College Prep's JaRell Joseph (48.03), who beat Clement the next week at the state meet.
