Meet Preview: Big Names at St. Joseph's Invite

On the girl's side are big names such as St. Joseph's, Ruston, Dominican, and Teurlings Catholic. These teams have cemented themselves as some of the best this season, with some of the fastest team and individual finishes. St. Jo's will most likely take away another team victory with some challenges from Ruston, Dominican, and Teurlings for a second-place finish

Lily Garrett finishing 1st at the Cedar Creek Wallace Martin Invitational

Lily Garrett of Ruston put up the fastest time in the state this past weekend at the Cedar Creek Wallace Martin Invitational with an 18:25 performance. When matched up against other top competitors in the state three weeks ago at the Episcopal Round Table Run, she came out on top with her other sub-19 minute run. This meet will most likely be no different as Garrett has put up fast times whether faced with strong competition or not.

Challenging Garrett will be Kelsey Major and Morgan Trauth of Dominican. Kelsey won her debut meet at the Mt. Carmel Cub Run with the second-best time in the state so far with an 18:41. Major is already off to a strong start for her season and could see an even better performance this weekend. Looking back to the 2020 cross country season, Major's personal best came from this meet.

Following up on Major is Morgan Trauth who should not be left out of the conversation. She has had a strong start to her season with a time of 19:07 which is just a few seconds away from her personal best from last year.

Two more top runners competing this weekend are Brynn Kelso and Ella Chesnut of Vandebilt Catholic. Much like Major, their personal bests also come from this meet last year.

Another runner to keep note of for this weekend is Ava Hartman of Newman. She debuted her season alongside Kelsey Major and finished second in a time of 18:53. She had a strong showing last week and that confidence may carry over into this weekend.
