Interview with Ali Dry

Ali will be joining SSA's Carly Dessauer to run under the guidance of Eric Navarre at Millsapps college in the fall.

LouisianaRunning.com:Looking back on your highschool career, are you pretty happy with the way things turned out?
Ali Dry: I'm pretty satisfied, however I really wish I could have gone to state track one more year. I wasn't able to go except for my senior year. There was a lot of competetion in my region, so it was very hard to get out of.

LouisianaRunning.com: How was your one-time-state-track experience?
Ali Dry: It was so much fun!! I just wish i would have won! lol (Ali finished 3rd behind a duo from St. Thomas Aquinas HS)

LouisianaRunning.com: A pretty good end to a final year then....
Ali Dry: Yea, very good.

LouisianaRunning.com: So, are you pretty psyched to continue running on the collegiate scene with the climax of your running coming your last highschool race...
Ali Dry: Umm i guess.

LouisianaRunning.com: You guess?
Ali Dry: I mean if I didn't have a scholarship I would probably take a year off, but I have to run so..

LouisianaRunning.com: So you're not too excited about college running?
Ali Dry: I'm sure i will be by the time I start again, just really enjoying my time off. i've gained weight. lol

LouisianaRunning.com: Good, you needed to.
Ali Dry: hahaha - yea

LouisianaRunning.com: What exactly went into deciding to go to Millsapps College?
Ali Dry: It's a lot like EHS (Episcopal) and I learn better in small class settings, also I just think LSU was too big. and it's close enough that i can come home in 2 and half hours, but far enough away from the parentals.

LouisianaRunning.com: So running didn't really play a factor - outside of receiving a pretty hefty scholarship?
Ali Dry: Not a huge factor (Ali has recieved an $11,000 in athletic aide)

LouisianaRunning.com: Were you recruited by anyone outside of Eric Navarre (Millsapp's Coach)
Ali Dry: Not really, Emily Bruser (also of EHS) really wanted me to come.

LouisianaRunning.com: She's going to run too?
Ali Dry: No, but she said it was really fun. She ran her first year.

LouisianaRunning.com: Have you gone up there and met the coach yet?
Ali Dry: Yep.

LouisianaRunning.com: Does he seem like a pretty nice/sane individual?
Ali Dry: Yea he is?

LouisianaRunning.com: The reason I asked was because I was coached by his father in highschool. Small world, and he's pretty legendary... as quotes such as "If yall don't win state, I'm going to lock yall in the bus and set it on fire" will live on in our memories and nightmares forever. Haha im just joking, He was a good guy.

LouisianaRunning.com: Anyways, best of luck to you Ali.

Ali: Thanks!
