Ellis, Dischler set pace for NSU at UL-Monroe

MONROE -- Freshman Karensa Ellis was third in the women's race while junior Dusty Dischler had a career-best fifth-place finish in the men's division for Northwestern State Saturday morning at the Warhawk Invitational cross country meet.,

For the NSU men, Cameron Mehl was 21st. No other individual or team results were available from ULM late Saturday afternoon.

"The course was extremely muddy after all the rain they had this week. There were pools of water everywhere and it was a very difficult race for everyone," said NSU coach Haley Blount. "Having two top 5 finishes is pretty cool, and for Dusty, we're really proud of him getting his first top 5 finish in college.

"(Freshman) Kyle (Lessig) went down late in the race and didn't finish.  Lawanda (Perkins) turned an ankle and couldn't finish. I'm proud of the fact we had five finish on both sides, especially with the men already being without two of our top five guys beginning the day due to injuries," she said.

More information was not available Saturday evening as ULM had not yet provided results.
