Busljeta Just Shy of Tulane Track & Field School Record at LSU Twilight
Feb. 20, 2009
BATON ROUGE, La. - Three student-athletes tuned up for next week's C-USA championship at the LSU Twilight Friday, including Katarina Busljeta's near school record in the weight throw. Busljeta's heave of 15.48m was a personal best and only one centimeter shy of the Tulane all-time mark.
She finished sixth overall in the weight throw, narrowly missing the best Tulane mark.
Arielle Minor posted a personal best in the long jump, posting a distance of 5.18 meters in the finals. She placed 18th in the event and also came in 23rd in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.83.
Kelly Curtis was 19th in the long jump, with a 5.06-meter mark. She also came in 26th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.60.
"This was a good event for us to tune up for the Conference USA championships," head coach Heather Van Norman said. "Kat and Arielle had good breakthroughs today. That should give them the confidence that they are ready for even greater performances at conference next week."
The C-USA Indoor Championship begins Friday at Yeoman Fieldhouse on the University of Houston campus.
