BATON ROUGE - Freddie Hannie, Carlese Franklin and Christi McRae all posted NCAA regional qualifying marks to lead McNeese State during the running of the LSU Tiger Relays on Saturday.

Hannie broke his own school record by going 189-4 for a fourth place finish in the hammer while Franklin went 211-0 in the javelin, also for a fourth place effort.

Franklin, a standout wide receiver who just completed his eligibility for the Cowboy football team, was making his season debut in the meet. His effort was also a personal best.

McRae, running the 400 meter for the first time in the outdoor season, stepped off a 54.07 which is a personal best as well as the second fastest mark ever by a Cowgirl. She placed seventh in the event.

The Browns - Darrick and Marcus - had the highest finish for the Cowboys in the meet. Darrick placed second in the long jump by going 24-7 3/4 while Marcus posted a 24-0 3/4 effort for third place.

Steven Scullion ran 3:55.04 for a third place showing in the 1500 meters while Michael Dyer was sixth at 3:58.59 and Johnathan Koenck was 10th at 4:04.29.

Jordan Neil went 1:55.2 in the 800 meters for fourth place but neither he nor Dyer bested the other's top clocking in their specialities. Neil usually runs the 1500 meters for the Cowboys but went out in the 800 which is Dyer's speciality.

Also for the Cowboys, Kenneth Pierce was third in the steeplechase at 10:14.26, Tim Guillory went 45-10 3/4 in the triple jump and 22-4 in the long jump, John Jamail was sixth in the shot put at 53-2 3/4 and 166-02 in the hammer and Dwight Charles ran 50.49 for 16th place in the 400 meters.

The Cowgirls got a 140-1 effort from DeAnn Washington for third place in the discus, a fifth from Julie Buller in the pole vault at 10-8 and a 132-6 for fourth in the javelin, Lindsay Brooks ws second in the high jump at 5-5, Amanda LeJeune was sixth in the javelin at 123-5 and Amy Guinn ran 2:22.76 in the 800 meters for eighth place.

McNeese graduate assistant coach Jon Fagan competed in the two day decathlon and finished third.
