Richardson named Southland Conference track and field athlete of the week
April 9, 2008
McNeese State javelin thrower David Richardson has been named the Southland Conference track and field athlete of the week.
Richardson, a freshman from Moss Bluff, was honored for his throw of 216-2 that finished second in the Texas Relays last week. It was a personal best for him as well as the top throw by a SLC athlete this season.
The throw also was a NCAA regional qualifying effort.
Richardson is the first McNeese athlete to be honored this spring. He will return to action Saturday in a meet at LSU.
Also named as a league track and field athlete of the week was Central Arkansas triple jumper Donovan Loring. He won the long jump event and ran a leg on the second place 4x100 meter relay team at the Missouri State Big Bear invitational.
