Cowboys and Cowgirls Pick Up Eight First Place Finishes

LAKE CHARLES, LA.-- McNeese State's track and field team picked up eight first place finishes here Friday at the McNeese State Indoor Invitational. Darrick Brown placed first in two events and third in one event. Darrick won the high jump with a jump of 6'6" and the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.49 and placed third in the long jump at 22'6". Brother Marcus won the long jump with a leap of 23'2".

Other finishers for the Cowboys were Jimmie Heath in the pole vault with a vault of 16 feet. McNeese went 1-2 in the men's mile with Jordan Neil winning with a time of 4:12.49 and Stephen Scullion placing second with a time of 4:13.75. Jonathan Koenck came in fourth at 4:29.07. Kenneth Pierce took the 3,000 meter run with a clocking of 8:45.13.

On the women's side, Amy Guinn won the mile with a time of 5:14.12 and placed fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:29.47.

Kristi McRae won the 200 meter dash with a clocking of 26.43.

McNeese returns to a action January 31 when they will take part in the LSU Invitational.
