Louisiana Tech Indoor Track and Field Finishes Just Shy of Three-Peat

BOISE, Idaho -- Louisiana Tech’s indoor track and field squad finished 3.5 points shy of finishing with back-to-back-to-back as finished second place overall at the 2007 WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

“We had a good meet,” Tech head coach Gary Stanley said. “Our athletes competed hard. Our coaches coached hard. We just didn’t have enough under the hood.”

Cal-State Northridge barely edged the Techsters 117.5 to 114.0 on way to the championship, and senior Nina Gilbert was named WAC’s Women’s Performer of the Year for 2007, who also set the WAC record for the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 53.19 seconds.

Saturday, Latoya Collins took a third place finish in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 41 feet, 5.75 inches, while in the men’s shot put senior Jason Morgan took third in the men’s shot at 56-6.50.

Senior John Kent took third in the 60-hurdle at 8.09, while both seniors Latonia Wilson and Lasadies McClain finished first and second in the women’s 60 with times of 7.48 and 7.56, respectively.
