New Orleans, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University track and field teams wrapped up competition and the Tulane Team Challenge at Tad Gormley Stadium.
"We split our group up this week," said head coach Sean Brady. "We sent some throwers and a couple of male sprinters to the Texas Relays, so that gave some of our freshman and those who don't travel very often a chance to compete."
Seventeen first-place finishes were recorded by Southeastern's squad on Saturday.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team combined for a time of 47.14. Nia Stewart, Kaelynn Smith, Vanessa Williams, and Domonique White finished first in the event.
Harry Wiggins won the men's 1500 meter run with a time of 4:01.11, while Alicia Noel's personal best time of 14.15 in the women's 100 meter hurdles earned her the top spot.
Christian Chapman placed first in two events: men's 110 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles. The sophomore posted times of 15.04 and 53.92 respectively.
Other first place finishes included: Brian Verdin (48.89, men's 400 meter dash), Cydney Moreau (1:08.35, women's 400 meter hurdles), Brandon Daniels (21.56, men's 200 meter dash), and Andrew Bridge (47.97m, men's javelin).
The men's and women's 4x400 meter relay swept their respective events. Bayleigh Butler, Vanessa Williams, Alicia Noel and Domonique White combined for a first-place time of 3:55.45, while Alex Holden, Dwayne Woodard, Emanuel Kennedy, and Brian Verdin placed first with a time of 3:17.18.
Jimmy LeBlanc claimed the men's hammer throw (51.42m) and shot put (14.31m). Brianna Golden also swept two events, tossing for 46.78 meters in the women's hammer throw; and 44.08 meters in the discus.
Brandon Daniels and Kadarius Williams swept the men's jumping events. Williams posted a mark of 2.04 meters in the high jump, while Daniels posted a mark of 7.22 meters in the long jump.
"We have Stephen F. Austin this weekend," said Brady. "We will use this week to train and see who will be traveling."
