McNeese\'s Jamail places in two events at Houston indoor track and field meet

Houston - John Jamail, Quinten Lawrence and Stephanie Gilbert led McNeese State during the running of the Houston Leonard Hilton indoor track and field meet here Friday.


Jamail produced a fourth place showing in the weight throw and a sixth in the shot put while Lawrence finished fifth in the 60 meter dash and Gilbert set a school record in the women\'s weight throw.


Jamail turned in a personal best of 49-9 1/4 in the weight and went 52-55 1/2 in the shot put.


Lawrence stepped off a 6.86 clocking in the 60 meters prelims and then finished fifth in the finals with a 6.89 clocking.. It was the first meet of the season for Lawrence who set the school record in the 60 meters last year. Gilbert placed fourth in the weight throw with a 48 foot toss that broke the school record she had set at the LSU meet last week.


The meet was continuing through press deadline with such Cowboy performers as Darrick and Marcus Brown competing in the triple jump.


Jon Fagan tossed the shot put 42-8 1/4 while Brad Augustus ran 7.11 in the 60 meters and Marc Dillon posted a 7.15 but none placed.


In other women\'s events top efforts came from Sonia Clark with a 5:27.68 in the mile run, Krystal Lux with a 2:28.50 in the 800 meters, Jeanae Barton with an 8.11 in the 60 meter dash and Debranique Warnell with a 9.11 in the high hurdles and a 17-7 1/2 long jump.
