Runners Showed Well at Centenary Invitational

CEDAR CITY, Utah-The Centenary cross country teams took part in The Summit League Championship hosted by Southern Utah on Saturday where both squads finished in 10th.

The Ladies compiled 309 points and ran the 6K race in an average of 27:56.68 for a total time of 2:19:43.40.

Senior Cara Micolli finished her collegiate career as the top runner for Centenary on the women's side. The Anacoco, Louisiana native placed 60th in a time of 7:07.6. Sophomore Brittany Wilkens finished in 62nd with a time of 7:14.3, followed by Mellyn Baker in 7:31.9 for 65th place.

Rounding out the runners for the Ladies were senior Jessica Brown (7:45.4) in 67th, sophomore Jacquelyn Batson (7:49.6) in 68th and senior Sunny LaGrone (8:17.2) in 70th.

The Gents tallied 292 points with an average 8K race time of 31:25.12 for a total competition time of 2:37:05.61.

Freshman Miles McDonald paced Centenary in 51st with a time of 29:15.80. Senior Adam Nerio was second-best for the Gents after a 30:07.80 performance for 58th place.

Finishing in consecutive order were sophomores Christopher Patterson (31:58.60), Jonathan Martin (32:43.50), freshman JJ Templet (32:59.90), and junior David Micinski (33:34.80) in 66th through 69th place, while sophomore Matthew Keus (36:43.30) placed 71st.

On the women's side, Southern Utah placed first (1:52:56.20), while North Dakota State (1:58:46.70) and Oral Roberts (1:59:45.50) rounded out the top three.

South Dakota State (2:10:04.20) took home first on the men's side, while Southern Utah (2:09:30.70) and Oakland (2:10:47.10) placed second and third respectively.
