Cross Country Off to Running Start at Mook 4

RUSTON, La.-The Centenary cross country teams kicked off their seasons by participating in the Louisiana Tech Mook 4 Invitational on Saturday.

The triple dual for Centenary consisted of Louisiana Tech, Louisiana College, and Grambling participating on the women's side. The Ladies went 2-1 with wins over the host-Louisiana Tech (131-188) and Louisiana College (131-231), but fell to Grambling (131-96).

Centenary's top performer on the women's side was sophomore Brittany Wilkens, who had a team-best 13:15 time for 20th place. Behind her was teammate senior Cara Miccoli with a time of 13:22 for 22nd place.

Sophomore Jacquelyn Batson (13:35) finished with the third best time for Centenary in 26th place, followed by senior Jessica Brown (13:50) and sophomore Mellynn Baker (14:19) who finished 30th and 33rd respectively.

On the men's side, Centenary competed against McNeese State, Northwestern State, and Louisiana College. The Gents went 1-2 with a win over Louisiana College (158-226), but dropped races to McNeese (158-21) and Northwestern State (158-93).

Senior Adam Nerio paced Centenary on the course with a time of 22:33 for 17th place overall. Freshman Miles McDonald was the Gents second-best runner, completing the race in 23:42 for a 29th finish.

With a time of 25:04, junior David Micinski finished in 36th place, while sophomores Chris Patterson (25:17) and Jonathan Martin (25:29) placed 37th and 39th overall. Freshman J.J. Templet (26:09) finished 40th, while sophomore Robert Poole (28:09) rounded out the Gents runners in 45th place.
