Centenary Cross Country Runs the ULM Warhawk Invitational

MONROE, La.The Centenary men’s and women’s cross country teams took part in the ULM Warhawk Invitational over the weekend. The Ladies Brittany Wilkens placed second overall and helped her team to a second place finish. Adam Nerio finished 30th individually as the Gents landed in sixth place as a team.

Wilkens, a freshman competing in just her second collegiate meet, ran the 5k course at Chenault Park in 19:38.37. Wilkens effort was 10 seconds back of the winner, Grace Korir of Grambling State.

Cara Miccoli also nabbed a top 10 finish for the Ladies, placing ninth (20:59.12). Jaquelyn Batson (12th), Mellynn Baker (14th), Ashley Fallin (26th), and Sunny LaGrone (27th) rounded out the women’s contingent. Natalie Holcomb left the race with an ankle injury.

The Ladies finished second behind Grambling, but ranked ahead of UT-Tyler, UL-Lafayette, Northwestern State, ULM, and Louisiana College.

Nerio’s time of 28:53.47 was tops for the Gents in their 8k contest. Robert Poole (35th), Adam Walton (36th), Michael Haydel (37th), Chris Patterson (41st), and Jonathan Martn (45th) also participated for Centenary.

The Gents finished sixth in the tem portion of the race, landing behind UT-Tyler, ULM, Grambling State, UL-Lafayette, and Northwestern State.

The Ladies and Gents return to action on September 29th when they run at the Northwestern State Invitational.
