Hello! My name is Amelia Broussard at Kaplan High CC and I'm excited to host the Vermilion Parish Cross Country Championship Race this year! Coach Skeeter at Erath will be helping me and timing. Here is the information for the meet. Please call or text me if you have any questions.
If any schools who are not in our parish meet would like to join us, please feel free to invite them as this will create more competition for our athletes. The Top 10 shirts will go to our vermilion parish athletes only.
Kindly inform/remind your parents of the $5 cash parking fee.
Meet Date: Monday, October 21, 2024
Race Starting Times: Girls 4:30pm; Boys 5:00pm
Meet Location: Kaplan High School - 200 E. Pirate Ln. Kaplan, La. 70548
Host School: Kaplan High School and Erath High School
Awards Presentation: Immediately following boys race. Shirts to top ten vermilion parish athletes of both genders. 1st and 2nd place team trophies.
Check in: Starting at 3:15pm. Please do not arrive prior to 2:55pm due to end of school traffic.
Course: The course is grass & dirt - pavement if you choose to run on the road rather than the side. Both are acceptable for the race. If you so choose to, you can run on the road (pirate lane) for almost a mile of the race. I recommend bringing both waffles and spikes and you can decide when you arrive.
Meet Registration: All schools must register their athletes in advance online via http://La.MileSplit.com prior to registration deadline. No race-day changes will be permitted.
Meet Entry Deadline: Registration will close at 10pm, Sunday, October 20, 2024.
Meet Entry Fee: No Registration Fee Required. Coaches Vehicles and Buses will not be charged to enter the meet. Please inform parents and fans there will be a $5 per vehicle parking fee.
Entry Requirements: Only LHSAA registered eligible athletes are allowed to compete in this Meet. No ineligible or unattached athletes will be allowed to compete in any race.
Timing & Scoring: There is no timing company with bibs. Kaplan and Erath will time it on our system. All runners will receive an index card with the placing written on the card. Runners will turn that card into coach immediately. Coach will write the runners name on the back of the card and after compiling all cards when runners are finished, turn the cards into the timers table to be scored. You will also have a score paper. Please write the placing, name, and time on the paper with to total score. A team must have a minimum of five finishers in order to receive a team score.
Meet Results: All final results will be uploaded to La.MileSplit.com ASAP following the meet.
Parking: Parking will be on-site. There will be a $5 fee (cash only) for each vehicle (excluding coach's vehicles with LHSCA coach's card). Please be award of football practice and band practice when parking. Please park in the paved student parking lot located near the band practice field and the discuss throwing cage. Please refrain from parking on any part of the course or near it. This includes mostly spray-painted grass and cones both on and off the pavement.
