Men Finish Sixth at Indoor Sun Belt Championships

 

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The ULM men's track & field squad wrapped up a solid showing at the Indoor Sun Belt Championships with a sixth place on Sunday.

The Warhawks finished with 61 team points, finishing one point behind South Alabama for fifth. Western Kentucky ran away with the title as they compiled 160.50 points in the two-day event.

In all, the men and women combined to break six school records on the weekend, including three on Sunday.

Junior Daniel Mutai broke a school record for the second straight day, this time in the 5,000-meter run. Mutai clocked a time of 14:30.31 to break the school record by 32 seconds and finish in third place.

Mutai also finished in fifth place in the men's 1-mile run (4:15.08) earlier in the day.

The Warhawks also got a third third-place finish from senior Josh Howard in the triple jump (15.36 meters) and a third-place finish from senior Luther Ambrose in the 55-meter dash (6.35).

On the women's side, freshman Teona Glave finished seventh in the 800-meter run a day after breaking the school record in the event yesterday in the prelims. Glave clocked a time of 2:16.11 on Sunday to earn two team points for the Warhawk women.

In addition, both the men and women's 4X400-meter relay teams broke school records Sunday. The men clocked a time of 3:16.82 to finish in third place while the women ran a time of 3:51.25 and also finished in third place
