Miller\'s second in 60m hurdles is NSU highlight at Arkansas


FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Tameshia Miller finished a close second in the women's 60 meter hurdles Saturday to provide the top Northwestern State performance at the annual Razorback Invitational indoor track and field competition.


Miller ran 8.64, just behind the 8.59 by Tia Thompson of Arkansas. Lady Demon teammate Shanae Steward also qualified for the eight-woman finals with an 8.72 time in the prelims, but finished sixth in the finals at 8.92.


Steward was also sixth in the triple jump (37-7 3/4). Demons sophomore Daniel Yarbrough was third in the weight throw (56-0) while Lady Demon sophomore Alison Holmes was fifth (47-3 3/4) in the same event in the women's division.


The Demons' 4x400 meter relay team ran a brisk 3:14.10 clocking but was sixth in a talented field. The Lady Demons ran 3:59.61 for eighth in the women's division.


Haley Blount of NSU cleared 11-1 3/4 for seventh in the women's pole vault. J.D. Henry took seventh in the men's 60 meter hurdles with an 8.03 clocking.


Demons sophomore Ravyn Hayward barely missed the finals in the 60 meter dash, clocking 8.85 for ninth, the same place as senior Marcus Pitre took with his 48.01 clocking in the 400.


Competition Saturday concluded the two-day meet which drew more than 20 teams to the University of Arkansas campus.
