Louisiana Tech Track Follows Through With a Great Showing at Razorback Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Louisiana Tech track and field squad capped off an impressive showing at the Razorback Invitational at the University of Arkansas Friday and Saturday with multiple NCAA provisional marks in the final day.


"I'm very happy with what happened today," head coach Gary Stanley said. "I'm extremely pleased with our season opener."


The no. 9 nationally ranked women's 1600 meter relay team of Latonia Wilson, Nina Gilbert, Krystal Cole and Sophia Jackson according to www.trackshark.com earned a second place finish behind Baylor with a time of 3 minutes 37.71 seconds for the first of three NCAA provisional marks.


Gilbert also had a good showing in the women's 400 with a time of 54.26 for a first place finish and an NCAA mark.


Jason Morgan also had a first place finish in the men's shot put with a throw of 57 feet, .75 inches.


Nolan Jackson also hit an NCAA provisional mark with a 7.91 seconds in the hurdles for the men.


Tech's track team returns to action Friday Jan. 27 at the Bayou Bengal Invitational in Baton Rouge, La.
