FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The ULM women's cross country team participated in its largest meet of the season at the 23rd Annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival Saturday morning.
The Warhawks averaged 24:42.48 per runner to finish in 29th place. Texas took home the team title with 85 points. Host Arkansas was the runner-up with 89 points, followed by Oklahoma State (123), Texas Tech (156) and Weber State (175).
Junior Madeleine Robertson paced ULM with a time of 23:36.10 in the 6k run for 160th place. Senior Denise Myers was the next Warhawk runner to cross the finish line, clocking a 23:45.60. Junior Sharon Sason completed the trek in 24:37.60, while freshman Anakaren Lopez posted a time of 25:23.80. Junior Jasmine Garcia (26:09.30) rounded out the finishers for ULM.
SMU's Silje Fjortoft claimed the individual win with a time of 19:44.20. Wichita State's Aliphine Tuliamuk earned runner-up honors with a 20:04.10. Texas Tech's Rose Tanui (20:19.00), Utah's Amanda Mergaert (20:19.50) and TCU's Agnes Kemboi (20:23.30) made up the remainder of the top five.
The Warhawks are idle next week, and will be back in action Oct. 29 at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Bowling Green, Ky.
