Tech's Larry Jones Wins Shot Put on Final Day of LSU Relays

 BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana Tech senior Larry Jones won the shot put with personal record throw by more than two feet and a trio of women's triple jumpers finished 3-4-5 as competition wrapped up at the LSU Relays late Saturday.

Jones' throw of 57-10.25 was more than two feet better than his previous personal best mark of 55-7.5 set last year. Jones won by more than three feet that second place finisher Jacob Domingue of UL-Lafayette. Jones also finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 168-3.

The Lady Techster triple jumpers dominated with a 3-4-5 finish in the meet. Led by Sapphira Brown's 40-2 personal record mark to finish third, Brittany Guy jumped 40-1.25 to place fourth and Quatisha Williams jumped 39-9.25 to place fifth.

The Techster relays also posted a good day with the 4x100m relay team of Chelsea HayesChasidee Lewis-BakerStacia Hanneman and Kim Francis running 45.65 to finish second. Meanwhile the 4x200m relay team ran 1:38.97 as the quartet of Hayes, Hanneman, Monique Wright and Nancy Shelton finished third.

In the 100m hurdles Kim Francis led Tech with a fourth-place finish and a time of 13.51 while Tiana Davis ran 13.65 to finish fifth. In the 100m dash finals, Lewis-Baker ran 11.69 to place fifth.

On the men's side, Alwayne Green finished second in the 800m Invitational with a time of 1:53.00 while Dennis Richardson ran 10.51 in the 100m dash finals to finish fourth.
