Loyola cross country competes in Gulf Coast Stampede

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Loyola University New Orleans cross country team completed their second meet of the season, running in the Gulf Coast Stampede on Saturday morning hosted by the University of West Florida.

Of the nine runners that competed in the event, three sophomores set personal records including Loyola’s top two finishers. Kenny Tsao led the men in the 8K with a 29:29, beating his time from last season by three minutes while Chris Graugnard also set a personal best with a 32:16. For the women, Jenna Knoblach placed 37th overall with a 21:10.30 in the 5K, eclipsing her mark in last year’s event by over two minutes.

Completing the field for the Wolfpack men were sophomores Alex Mayon (30:08), Galen Westerfield (32:38), and freshman Lonterio DeVaull (37:34).

Senior Madeline Falcone finished at 41st for the women with a 21:27.80. Freshmen Vanessa Righeimer and Elizabeth Gienger rounded out the results with a 21:36.70 and a 22:33.20 respectively.

The Loyola cross country team will return to action on Oct. 8 in the Watson Ford Invitational in Clinton, Miss.
