Cajuns Run at LSU Invitational

Zachary France and Juan Rodriguez turned in Top 20 times and Paula Parker led the women's squad on Saturday as Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's cross country teams competed in the LSU Cross Country Invitational at Highland Park in Baton Rouge.

The men took in their first 8K race of the season, meanwhile the women participated in their first 6K event.

France came in 19th with a time of 28:11.03. Rodriguez traversed the 8K trek in 28:12.54 and finished 20th.

For France it was his first time finishing as UL's top men's runner this season. Last week, Rodriguez was the team's top runner at the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational.

France's time was 25 seconds faster than last season's 39thplace finish at the meet.

As a team, the men came in eighth place with 185 points and an average time of 31:22.00.

On the women's side, Parker was the top finisher for the Cajuns. She turned in a 6K time of 22:50.42.

The remaining Cajuns runners finished outside the Top 50 and as a result the team slipped to a ninth place finish with 236 points and an average time of 24:21.07.

Both squads are off next weekend and return to action on Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Asics MSU Cowboy Stampede in Lake Charles.
