Tech hosted the annual Mook 4 cross country meet at Lincoln Parish Park in the program's first meet of the season. Tech's men's team placed four runners in the top five with Matt Wolfe leading the way, running 20:13 to place second. Josh Slocum finished third with a time of 20:18, Steven Cortez ran 20:20 to finish fourth and Alwayne Green ran 20:25 to finish fifth. Jack Ramstad rounded out the Tech scorers with a time of 20:47, finishing ninth overall. The men's team swept the competition with wins over Centenary (15-40), Grambling State (22-33) and Northwestern State (16-39). Grambling's Darwin Price, Jr. won the overall men's race with a time of 19:36. On the women's side, Louisiana Tech's Lauren Gilbert ran 16:16 to finish third overall to lead the Lady Techsters. Mary Kate Hays finished 15th with a time of 18:06, Chelsea Dressel finished 17th with a time of 18:13. Morgan Owen and Dana Ramstad both ran 18:18 to finish 19th and 20th. The women's team posted a win over Centenary (15-40) but fell to Grambling State (24-31) and Northwestern State (18-37). The Mook 4 is aptly named as the men's race covers four miles (approx. 6,400m) while the women run a 4k. Louisiana Tech next returns to action on Oct. 4 when the program competes at the Northwestern State Invitational in Natchitoches.
