RECORDS FALL AS SOUTHEASTERN COMPETES AT LSU RELAYS

BATON ROUGE – Three school records fell and three NCAA Regional qualifying marks were established as the Southeastern track and field team competed this past weekend at the LSU Relays at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

On the men's side, Chris Carter shattered the school record in the javelin with a throw of 236-7, one of the top throws in the nation in 2005 and bettering the previous school record of 229-0 set by Scott Faucheaux in 1989. Also earning a NCAA Mideast Regional qualifying mark was Cal Hamilton, who posted a throw of 203-6.

In the men's 1,500-meter run, Denham Springs' Joey Valure qualified for regionals as he set a school record with a time of 3:47.85, breaking the previous mark of 3:50.31 set by Timmy Leyden in 1978.

On the women's side, the sprint medley relay team set a record with a time of 1:48.93.

Southeastern will take off for Spring Break before resuming action April 7-9 at the Texas Relays in Austin.
