Kyle Kent Earns Top-15 Finish at NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Junior Kyle Kent of the ULM track and field team competed in the javelin at the NCAA Championships on Thursday (June 10). Kent claimed a 15th-place finish in the competition.

Competing in the second NCAA Championships of his career, Kent fouled on his first attempt of the day, suffering an injury to his leg in the process.

With his second throw, Kent, who finished sixth in the javelin as a freshman in 2008, registered a mark of 61.60m (202-1). On his final attempt of the flight round, Kent recorded his best throw of the meet, recording a distance of 66.41m (217-10).

His last attempt gave him the eighth-best mark of the flight, but was not enough to advance to the finals. Craig Kinsley of Brown went on to win the javelin competition with a top throw of 76.29m (250-3).

ULM sophomore Luther Ambrose will take to the track tomorrow in Eugene as he competes in the final of the 100-meter dash. The race is scheduled to begin at 7:25 p.m. CT (5:25 p.m. locally in Eugene) and will be broadcast live on CBS College Sports as part of their coverage of the championships.
