GREENSBORO, NC - McNeese State's Ashlee Smith couldn't duplicate her season best throw and finished 41st in the discus event at the NCAA east regional track and field meet here Saturday. The Cowgirl freshman, who had gone into the meet with a season best 156-7, could only manage a throw of 129-4. Smith only had three throws as she did not make the finals. Her throw of 129-4 came on her first attempt. She fouled on her last two. Northwestern State's Tracey Rew took top honors with a throw of 179-0. The top 12 finishers earned a berth in the NCAA championship meet in Eugene, OR, June 10-12. Smith's teammates Sam Vidrine and Ben Chretien had earned berths in the NCAA championship with a sixth and an eighth place finish in the javelin event on Friday.
