RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's women's track and field team won its sixth consecutive WAC Track and Field title Saturday, scoring a program record 194 points. The Lady Techsters dominated in the sprints and relays to continue one of the most dominant streaks in the history of the Western Athletic Conference.

Several dominant performances by Tech athletes were on display Saturday at Louisiana Tech's Jim Mize Track and Field Complex. FreshmanQuanisha Sales, who won the 100m and 200m dashes and was a member of the winning 4x100m relay team, was named the WAC Outdoor Freshman of the Year.

Senior Albert Fullwood was named the WAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year after winning all four races he competed in: the 200m and 400m dashes along with the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Fullwood's title in the 400m dash is his fourth in as many years - a race he has never lost at the conference championships.

Louisiana Tech Head coach Gary Stanley was honored by his peers once again for the tremendous amount of talent he puts on the track as Stanley was named the WAC Coach of the Year for the women's side.

The Lady Techsters continued their streak of championships Saturday but, for the first time in program history, was able to hoist the championship trophy at home and did so in record fashion. The 194 points scored by the women's team is a school record in the WAC Championships.

The Bulldogs, led by the four individual titles won by Fullwood, finished third on the men's side with 118 points marking the fourth consecutive year the Tech men have finished third.

The women's team did not win the outdoor title as easily as the indoor title as the Lady Techsters did not clinch the championship until the second-to-last event had been completed - the high jump. But the high jump results were not reported until after the start of the final event, the 4x400m relay. Tech entered the 4x400m relay believing it needed to win the relay to win the team title and the relay team came through with flying colors.

Three of the four members of the 4x400m relay team had already ran the 400m earlier in the day with Kamelia StroyLashannda Worthy and Monique Wright finishing 1-2-3.Shante Benion joined the group for the relay and the team beat Fresno State by almost 2.5 seconds to claim the relay and team title. That marked Louisiana Tech's first 4x400m relay title since 2006.

The men's team clinched third place after also winning the 4x400m relay as the quartet of Justin TerryWade MaGahaMarcelles Atkinson and Fullwood ran 3:10.78 for the Bulldogs' third title in four years.

It was a showcase of Lady Techster sprinters in the 100m dash finals as LA Tech finished 1-2-3-4-5-6 and overtook Idaho for the overall team lead. Freshman Quanisha Saleswon the WAC title with a time of 11.45 while Chasidee Lewis-Baker finished second with a time of 11.61. Antoinette Cobb ran 11.67 to finish third, Chelsea Hayes ran 11.70 to place fourth, Rakeisha Green finished fifth with a time of 11.79 and Nancy Shelton rounded out the group with a sixth-place time of 11.85.
