It wasn't a good Championship meet for the Southern Jaguars, as the women's and men's track & field teams, both finished eighth in the 2010 SWAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
For the Southern Lady Jaguars, Melissa Stevenson had the highest finish in the 2010 SWAC outdoor Track & Field Championships, by finishing second in the 100 meter hurdles.
Brittany Manuel was fourth in the javelin, while RaeNeisha Myles also finished fourth in the pole vault. Melanie Gilbert finished sixth in the 800m.
Individually on the men's side, freshman Micah McCulloch scored 19 points in the SWAC Championships, and picked up the SU Jaguars only win, on either the men's or women's side, by clearing 6-6 for the win in the high jump. McCulloch finished fourth in the long jump (23-10.25/7.27m), and fifth in the triple jump (47-05.00/14.45m).
Vincent Brown finished seventh in the 110 high hurdles, while Demetrius Boone finished eighth in the javelin throw. Joshua Albert andStephen Deggs finished sixth and seventh in the decathlon, with 4944 and 4702 points, respectively, while Albert also finished fourth in the pole vault. Jarrade Lee picked seven points by finishing eighth in the hammer throw, fifth in the discus thrown and seventh in the shot put.
