OXFORD, Miss. - The Tulane track and field team barely had time to crack a sweat on Saturday afternoon at the Mississippi Open before Mother Nature forced the cancelation of the meet after just five events. In all, the Green Wave competed in three events on the women's side and just one event in the men's program before UM officials decided to cancel the remaining events.

"It was nice to see Ana got back on track, with her rhythm and her timing after her last competition at Southern Miss," said head coach Eric Peterson. "She was in a good competition and I thought she responded pretty well to that. I mentioned to the team earlier how proud I am of Jessica Dallager on improving her personal best by such a dramatic amount of time. (Those type of performances) are what we expect from (our athletes). We are getting towards the end of our season and it is the time of year for them to be at their best. We believe that the majority of our roster is ready to answer that call and we just need the opportunity now."

The Olive and Blue posted very solid marks in the three events that Tulane took part in on the women's side of the competition. In the hammer throw, Jennifer Triplett posted a season-best toss of 31.92-meters in her second throw of the competition and Jane Ball posted a toss of 25.3w-meters in her final throw, after fouling in

Ana Ruzevic posted her fourth victory of the season as she continued to have a solid showing in the Javelin event. The sophomore posted a winning throw of 44.42-meters in her second toss of the competition to win the event by a little over a half-meter.

Jessica Dallager posted a career-best showing in the 5,000-meter, when she crossed the finish line with a time 18:48.62. This time was almost two-minutes better than her previous season-best and the sophomore placed eighth in the event.

The lone men's event that was competed was the 5,000-meter run and the Olive and Blue watched two participants take part. Phil Scruggs had the top time of 17:14.66 and Jordan Vance posted a time of 17:42.89 to complete the competition for Tulane.

"Today was disappointing because we feel that our (athletes) are really starting to peak," said Peterson. "As you approach the postseason of your competitive schedule, it is by far the most exciting time of the year, and we're all so eager to compete and challenge ourselves. To have the opportunity taken away from us, because of circumstances that nobody can control, is really disappointing. We talked about it as a group and what are kids are going to turn their focus towards final exams and then go out and get ready for the Conference USA championships."

The Green Wave will look to pick up a competition next week, but the next scheduled event is the Conference USA Outdoor Championships. Competition will start on Thursday, May 13 at the University of Central Florida's Track and Soccer Complex.
