Loyola track runs at Southern Miss Invitational

Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Loyola University New Orleans track team traveled to Hattiesburg on Saturday to participate in the Southern Miss Invitational at the Marshall Bell Track and Field Complex.

For the men, Daniel Afanador took 7th in the 400 meter dash with a 51.69. Alex Hall and Neal Outland finished with a 54.75 and 55.06 respectively. Afanador also ran a 23.28 in the 200 meter while Outland clocked a time of 24.93. 

In the 800 meter, Kenny Tsao ran a 2:10.91 and Galen Westerfield ran a 2:32.63.

For the 1500 meter, Tsao was tops for Loyola with a 4:33.43, with Alex Mayon and Adam Mayon right behind with a 4:48.80 and 4:52.20. Westerfield finished with a 5:09.39 and Robert Hayden ran a 5:24.53.

Mayon ran the 5000 meter in 18:51.06. Hall, Outland, Afanador, and Tsao teamed up for the 4x100 relay for a time of 3:42.20.

For the women, Sarah Tortorich ran the 100 meter at 12.99 and the 200 meter at 26.27. Also in the 200, Alexandra Lain ran a 28.42. Jenna Knoblach rounded out the short distance with a 1:06.41 in the 400 meter.

Lauren Fincher, Lain, Tortorich, and Whitney Williams ran a 4:20:39 in the 4x400 relay.
 

In the hurdles, Lain ran the 100 meter at 18.35 while Fincher placed 6th in the 400 at 1:11.14.
