MALLORY SWINT COMPETES AT THE YELLOW JACKET RELAYS DURING WEEK No. 1
Congratulations to C.E. Byrd's Mallory Swint and Glen Oaks' Tyrin Garrison. They are this week's MileSplit LA Performers Of The Week! Both will advance to make the poll at the end of the season for MileSplit LA Outdoor Athlete Of The Year at the end of the season.
Swint won the MileSplit LA Girls' Performer Of The Week poll with just over 51% of the vote (1,041 votes). St. Frederick's Bradie Eppinette was the runner-up with 934 votes.
Garrison had 5,013 votes in the MileSplit LA Boys' Performer Of The Week poll. Slidell's Gionni Wiltz was the runner-up with 3,563 votes.
During Week No. 1, Swint led the C.E. Byrd 4x800m team to a meet record at Byrd's home meet--The Yellow Jacket Relays--with a time of 10:27. It's the same relay which set a new school record on two occasions during the indoor season.
Swint is also 2-0 in the 800m. She won with a time of 2:32 in the opener. Last Thursday at Mansfield, Swint was able to break the 2:30 barrier with a time of 2:29.94.
Garrison won the 1600m and 3200m during week No. 1 with times of 5:05 and 11:59 at the Brusly Invitational. He also finished eighth in the 800m with a 2:21.
