LHSAA STATE INDOOR MEET: Will These Athletes Break Records?

DYNASTY WILFRED COULD BREAK THE 800m RECORD AT THE LHSAA STATE INDOOR MEET

MileSplit Louisiana has looked over the performance list for Saturday's LHSAA State Indoor Meet and identified the events where Louisiana track and field fans can expect records to fall.

  1. Kiristen Mcgirt (East Ascension)

What a year it has been for the future Tennessee Lady Vol who set the fieldhouse composite record of 49-7.25 earlier this season. That record is in jeopardy along with Kristian Jackson's LHSAA DI State Championship record of 46-1.75 set in 2017.

  1. Girls' DI Long Jump

Did you notice that we didn't mention a name here? That's because the state championship meet record set last year by West Feliciana's Tristen Harris has two athletes who have the potential to get the big jump they are looking for. Harris, who has a season best of 19-3.25, is back in her final high school meet at the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse and you can expect her to bring some big-time energy. Destrehan's Marley Richard is another jumper with potential to surpass the 19-6.75 LHSAA D1 girls' long jump record. Both Harris (South Carolina) and Richard (LSU) will be competing in the SEC this time next year.

  1. Jaden Youngblood

After a season of discontent and struggling through nagging injuries last year, Youngblood, Louisiana's No.1 ranked hurdler, has been on fire in 2025. The Mansfield Wolverine comes into his last LHSAA State Indoor Meet as the only hurdler in the state who has run under 8 second in the 60m hurdles. His season best of 7.95 is the exact same as the LHSAA DII Meet record set by Craig Rock in 2014. We fully expect Youngblood to erase that mark off the books on Saturday.

  1. Pair of Parkview Baptist Eagles!

That's right. Not one, but two Parkview Baptist Eagles will have an opportunity to beat their LHSAA DII 1Meet record 600m times which they set a last year's LHSAA State Indoor Meet. Sophomore Lucy Cramer holds the girls' meet record with a time of 5:01.31. Senior Aiden Monistere is also the meet record holder in the event after his 4:23 at last year's meet. Monistere also holds the fieldhouse composite record of 4:11.21 set earlier this season.

The only thing holding these Eagles from breaking their own records on Saturday is the fact that they will be competing in as many events possible in order to give their team a shot at a state championship.

Ladies from The Lake!

How much fun has it been to watch Barbe's Kennedi Burks and St. Louis High's Hannah Boullion over these last four years? The senior ladies from Lake Charles will make their final high school appearance at the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse. The next time they compete in the building they will be representing their collegiate programs. Burks has signed with LSU. Bouillon is headed East on I-10 to the University of Louisiana Lafayette. Burks will be looking to lower her LHSAA DI Meet record and LHSAA State Meet composite record of 55.81. That shouldn't be a problem as she ran a time of 55.01 earlier this season. That time is the fieldhouse composite record.

Boullion, who has a season best of 55.0 at the FasTrak High School Challenge in Houston, Texas at the beginning of the season, will be looking to lower Kali Magana's LHSAA DII Meet record of 56.71 set is 2023.

  1. Dynasty Wilfred

We knew coming into this indoor season that Dynasty Wilfred was one of the best hurdlers in Louisiana. What we didn't expect was for her to leading the 800m rankings. Wilfred has a season best of 2:16.74. Magana set the LHSAA DII meet record with a time of 2:16.29 last year.

  1. Record-breaking Relays?

We expect with several relays to fall and one relay group in particular to keep an eye is the St. Louis Catholic sprint relay group, who lead all divisions in both the 4x200 (1:42.76) and 4x400 (3:58.88). That's a feat that head coach Johnny Giordano thinks has never been done.

They will be looking to break their own record of 3:59 in the 4x400. That record was set in 2023. In the 4x200, they will be looking to erase Brusly's LHSAA DII meet record of 1:43 from 2017 off the books.

Another relay team to keep an eye on is the Parkview Baptist 4x800 which includes two sets of sisters-- the Cramers and the Theriots. They have Louisiana's best time this season of 9:33. It should not be difficult for this group to smash the old LHSAA DII meet record of 9:59 set by St. Louis in 2023.

Finally, keep an eye on the Catholic High Baton Rouge boys' in the 4x200m. Led by Alex Huffine and Joshua Dowdell, this group could find some magic on Saturday and lower the LHSAA D1 4x200 record of 1:29.10 set by Zachary in 2020. The Bears have a season best of 1:29.55.

    Jackson Burney

Burney, a future LSU Tiger, will be looking to keep the momentum going on Saturday for what has been a great start to his senior season. Blair Henderson's 2011 LHSAA DII meet record of 1:57.11 is in serious jeopardy. Burney has a season best this year of 1:57.59.
