The shot put has definitely garnered some attention during the 2025 season. Much of that attention is due to some big gains by many of the top returning shot putters in Louisiana.

Central Lafourche's Kaden Adams, who is currently ranked No. 1 in Louisiana with a season best of 58-5, is at the head of the class.

However, when it comes to improvement, even Adams, who has improved over three feet since last year, pales in comparison to Catholic High's Jack Torrance, who has improved nearly eight feet. Torrance is ranked No. 2 in Louisiana with a best of 55-6.

Adams and Torrance are not alone. Last year, Northwest's Curtis Harrison fell short of breaking the 50-foot barrier. This year, Harrison is well out in front of that mark with a throw of 54-6. That's and improvement of over 5 feet!
