Elijah Holifield is the most improved runner in Louisiana. Holifield, a sophomore, ran a personal record 21:20 in the season opener at the Bob Gravett Invitational. That time is just over six minutes faster than his time during the first three weeks last year.
"Elijah is a hard-working, dedicated athlete who wants to be the best," Benton head coach Bryson Matthews said. "He is constantly asking what he can do to make himself better and looking to do extra work. This year, he seems to be more focused on making himself a better athlete."
