Vederek Matthews, Khai Brown Win Week No. 3 POTW!

ZACHARY'S VEDEREK MATTHEW DOES HIS SUPERMAN IMPRERSONATION CROSSING THE LINE!

Two of Louisiana's best hurdlers won MileSplit LA's Week No. 3 Performer of the Week after impressive performances at the LSU High School Qualifier. Zachary senior Vederek Matthews won the Boys' Performer of the Week and Warren Easton freshman Khai Brown won the Girls' Performer of the Week.

Matthews won the poll with 34% of the vote. Brown had a whopping 47% percent of the overall vote.

At the LSU High School Qualifier, Matthews won the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.95 to win the boys' 60m hurdles. He also ran on a couple of Bronco relay teams. For his efforts, Matthews was awarded the Qualifier Boys' Track MVP by meet management. 

Matthews' time ranked No. 12 at the time. 

Brown qualified for the finals of the girls 60m hurdles and finished fifth with a time of 9.46. Nationally, that time ranks No. 10 among all freshmen. 

Matthews and Brown will now advance to the ballot for MileSplit LA Boys & Girls Athlete of the Year. This poll will come out a week after the state meet.

Matthews will join Parkway's Brennan Robin and Glen Oaks' Na'Ryan Delone. Brown will join John Curtis' Addilyn Dufrene and Lafayette's Khai Williams.
