Nita Koom-Dadzie (Kingwood) is off to a fast start to the 2024 indoor track and field season. The all-state sprinter got things started this past weekend at the FasTrak Athletix High School Indoor Challenge in Houston, Texas this weeknd.
Koom-Dadzie showed little rust with an opening preliminary round run of 7.43 for the top seed heading into the finals. About an hour later, she followed that up with a 7.44 run for the win.
Sade Gray from Scotlandville (LA) got in for runner-up with runs of 7.70 and 7.51 ahead of Avia Jones (Klein Forest) who was third with runs of 7.60 and 7.62 in the finals.

In the 60-meter hurdles, it was Makeriah Harris (Scotlandville) who hammered two consecutive 8.50 runs through the rounds.
Harris, who ran five races under 7.95 last season including a 7.56 personal best last year is getting over a month head start to her senior season with the run at FasTrak.
She also added a solid leg on the Run Fast TC winning 4x200 relay.
