The Run Fast Track Club made their annual trip to Orlando, Florida for the AAU Club Championships last week. The travel bags were a little heavier on the way home as Run Fast brought back seven national championship gold medals and three team trophies, highlighted by the team championship in the 17-18 girls division.
Other trophies included the runner-up trophy in both the 15-16 girls division and the 14-year-old boys.
Fayden Brown was the only member of the team to win two individual titles. Brown won the 14-year old boys 100m hurdles (13.60) and the 200m hurdles (25.78) for the second consecutive year. He was also the runner up in the 100m (11.45) and finished fourth in the 200m (22.70).
Run Fast had three girls to win national titles in the 17-18 division. Makeriah Harris won the 400m hurdles (59.71). London Parker won the 800m (2:15.52), and Quincy Simon won the 400m (55.85).
Harris, Parker, Simon and Jayla Mason joined forces to win the 17-18 girls 4x400 relay (3:48.05). The Run Fast 4x100 team of Harris, Simon, Mason, and Marley Richard also made the podium, finishing second with a 46.94.
In the 15-16 girls age group, Run Fast's Tristen Harris won the long jump by half a foot with a jump of 19-3. Harris also finished fourth in the 200m.
Harris was also on the Run Fast 4x100 relay which finished second (48.29). The Run Fast 15-16 boys 4x400 team finished third (3:26.07).
Runner-up finishes were turned in by Makeriah Harris in the 100m hurdles. Harris had the fastest time going into the finals with a 14.05. She finished second to Kyndall Harrington of The Blue Track Club (St. Louis) in the finals with a time of 14.39. Harrington's time was 14.30.
Sade Gray finished second in both the girls 17-18 100m (12.00) and 200m (24.37).
Laila Johnson (1:04.46) and Dylan Evans (56.16) both finished third in the 400m hurdles. Johnson took bronze in the 17-18 girls, while Evans finished third in the 15-16 boys.
