WESTGATE'S MEKHI BOUTTE (MIDDLE OF THE TRACK) SPRINTS HIS WAY TO A 100m 4A TITLE!
Westgate's Mekhi Boutte, who has signed to continue his career with the University of Louisiana--Lafayette, led his Tigers to the team's third-straight LHSAA Class 4A State Championship. Boutte won the 100m (10.54) and the 400m (48.07), and finished fourth in the 200m (21.67). He was also the state's most improved 400m runner. His 47.82 this season was 7.10 seconds faster than his best time in 2022. 
Boutte wasn't the only Tiger in the Top 10 of La.'s Top 100 most improved boys in the 400m. 
Daveyon Hypolite comes in at No. 7 on the list. Hypolite had a best time of 51.84 in 2023, 3.81 seconds faster than his best in 2022.
Dutchtown had the second most improved sprinter in the 400m. Griffin Jeremy Jackson
had a season best of 48.24, 5.45 seconds faster than he ran in 2022.
