Chad LaPoint (South Cameron) 

LaPoint, a junior, is the defending LHSAA Class C state champion in both the 110m hurdles (16.40) and long jump (21-1.25). LaPoint also finished third in the high jump (5-10). LaPoint had season bests in both events at the Region 2-C Meet. His 16.13 in the 110m hurdles and 21-7 in the long jump are both state leading marks in Class C.



Ean Allain (Simpson)

Simpson runs so many races during the course of state championship meets, it would make the Energizer Bunny blush. Last year, Allain ran the 400m (55.08) , 800m (2:14.04), 1600m (5:07.36), and 3200m (11:06.62) . Not only did he run the races. He Won the races--with the exception of the 400m, where he finished in fourth. This year, Allain is ranked No.1 in the 400m, 800m, and 1600m. He is ranked No. 2 in the 3200m. 



Samora Sampson (Gibsland Coleman)

Althouh she was only a freshman last year, she helped Gibsland Coleman to an LHSAA State Championship by winning all three of her events-- the 100m hurdles (16.97), the 300m hurdles (50.28), and triple jump (35-2.75). She returns this year to continue to add to her state championship collection. She will not run the 300m hurdles, but she has added the long jump, where she is ranked No. 2 in LHSAA Class C with a best of 15-9.5. She is also ranked No. 1 in the triple jump (34-2.5) and No. 2 in the 100m hurdles (17.92)



Reese Jeane (Evans)

She won the 3200m last year at the LHSAA Class C State Championships as an eighth grader. Her winning time was 13.21.30. She aslo finished third in the 1600m (6:16.06). This year, Jeane leads the state in Class C with a season best of 12: 49.57 in her runner-up 3200m at the DeRidder Dragon Relays. She is also ranked No. 2 in the 1600m behind Simpson's Dakota Miller with a season best of 5:57.85. The Region 2-C earlier this week gave us a preview of this year's state championship race. Miller came out on top in the 1600m with a time of 5:55.32. Jeane's time was 5:59.47. 



Da'Kireah Perkins (Louisiana School for the Deaf)

Perkins has the Class C state-leading time of 1:06.10 in the 400m. At the Region 3-C Meet, Perkins finished third in both the 400m (1:11.76) and long jump (11-5.75). She also finished third in the 200m (31.15). This will be Perkins' first trip to the state championships at Bernie Moore Stadium.
