POLL: Vote on MileSplit LA Girls' Performer of the Week!

SB'S TRINITY SPOONER GETS READY TO UNLEASH A BIG THROW AT THE BARBE BUC RELAYS

You have to be very careful with this ballot after Week No. 3 of the La. HS outdoor season. We have two Trinitys. Well, a Trinity (Spooner) and a Trenati (Pitre)...close enough. As if that is not bad enough, we have two athletes with Simon for a last name (Alana and Quincy). Like all MileSplit LA Performer of the Week Polls, this one will close at 9pm on Saturday. The winner will move on to compete for MileSplit LA Athlete of the Month.

TRINITY SPOONER (SOUTH BEAUREGARD)- Won Barbe's Merchant Farmers Bank Relays with a throw of 150-6. It's currently ranked No. 2 in the US. Spooner has her eyes set on the Texas Relays later this month.

ALANA SIMON (EPISCOPAL)-Jumped 5-7 at the Brothers of Sacred Heart Invite the Saturday before last. It's the No. 2 jump in Louisiana behind Barbe's Ariel Williams (5-8). At her home meet last Thursday, Simon won the 100 hurdles (16.68), 300 hurdles (47.78), long jump (17-7), and high jump (5-3).

QUINCY SIMON (NORTHSIDE) - Went on a gold rush at the Oil City Relays winning the 100m (12.32), 200m (26.40), and finishing second to Barbe's Kennedi Burks in the 400m (58.14).

IRENE KAISER (EPISCOPAL OF ACADIANA)- Yet another athlete at who came away with multiple gold medals at the Oil City Relays. Kaiser won the long jump (17-7) and triple jump (36-9.5).

LALAINA WOOD (RAYVILLE)- Wood had a day at the Castor Invitational. She won the long jump (15-5), 800m (2:41.03), 1600m (6:03.12), and ran a leg on Rayville's winning 4x400 team.

TRENATI PITRE (IOWA)- The freshman won four gold medals by winning the 100m (12.80), 200m (26.73), and running legs on Iowa's  4x100 and 4x200 team. Only three freshmen girls in the state have run faster than Pitre in the 100m.

SADE GRAY (SCOTLANDVILLE)- Finished second in the 100m time  with an 11.94 at the Texas Southern Relays. Gray had a faster time in the prelims--a wind aided 11.90, which is the No. 1 time in Louisiana. This performance came  a week after running a leg on the Scotlandville/Run Fast TC 4x400, who posted a 3:52--the fastest all-time indoor performance at the New Balance Nationals in Boston.

SIMONE CASTELLUCCIO (ST. JOSEPH'S)- Picked up her fourth win of the year (second in the outdoor season) in the triple jump last week at the National Guard Zachary Track Classic. Her jump of 38-4 is currently the No. 1 jump in Louisiana. Castelluccio also had podium finishes in the long jump (3rd, 17-4.5) and 200m (2nd, 25.16).
