Louisiana RunningLane Cross Country Championship Recap

Kicking off the day of competition were Antonio Delgado and Talan Sievers in the Boys' Blue Division

Sievers concluded his first 5k race, as well as his first competitive race over two miles, in a time of 19:25. This time is great for his age, considering it would convert to a three-mile time that places him as the second-fastest 7th grader in the state.

Delgado finished with a personal best in the 5k with a 17:01. This time, when converted, would equate to the fastest time that he has run all season. He finished 72nd in his division with the winner of the race finishing in 15:53.

Next in line is the Girls' Bronze Division, full of a collective of girls from LA

Sydney Owens

First to cross the line from Louisiana was Sydney Owens with Zoie Holstead right behind her. These two teammates cross the line with just two seconds between them, with both of them running 20:32 and 20:34, respectively. The winner of their division crossed the line in 18:26.

Following close behind these two was Peyton Sievers, older sister of Talan who was mentioned earlier. Her final time of 20:42 would convert to one of her best times this season for three miles.

Emma Bourg closes the tight following of Louisiana runners with her fastest time of the season of 20:54. She finished just outside the top 100 with her 106th place finish.

Finalizing the Louisiana girls' finishes is Abby Edgerton. She ran a time of 22:54. This is similar to her performance at the Class 5A state meet, a little over two weeks ago.

The sole contender in the Boys' Bronze Division lies with Patrick Dowd

Dowd beat his previous best from earlier in the season by 10 seconds. Though he was separated from his team, he still pulled out a strong performance and a 74th finish in the bronze division. The winner of Dowd's division crossed the line in 15:29.

The next set of competitors arise from the Boys' Silver Division

The only individual out of this race is Mason Appleton. He took an unconventional approach to the postseason with his 3200m at the New Balance Dash for Doobie 3200 just a week prior. Appleton's fitness was proved during the race as he opened up in a sub-5-minute mile and ran a lifetime best for the 5k. He crossed the line in 15:54 and was the highest finisher from Louisiana in this division.

Other notable performances from the Silver Division were from Ruston. The team pulled off a 21st place team finish out of 26 in the silver division and recorded some new personal bests. Bryar Madden was Ruston's top runner with a 15:57 and a 144th finish rather than the usual top finish by Caleb Babineaux
