Ladies and gentlemen... the deepest Mississippi High School Cross Country Meet has officially taken place on October 16, 2021. 34 Mississippi athletes broke 17 at the same meet - The most in Mississippi history by far. There were 5 girls under the old course record of 18:50. Two 7th graders crushed the 3k state record by 30 seconds, and that was with a 5:03 opening mile. The 2021 Watson High School Meet was everything that it was hyped up to be, and quite possibly may be the greatest meet Mississippi has ever seen.
I truly do not even know where to begin on recapping what all went down on Saturday, but we'll just start with the first and deepest race of the day... The Varsity Gold Boys Race.
