Zachary's Sean Burrell Wins NCAA 400m Hurdle National Title!

Sean Burrell (Zachary) made his NCAA Outdoor Championship debut tonight in Eugune, Oregon over the 400m Hurdles and shocked the field running a full second personal best of 47.85.

The mark is a new World U20 Record over the 400m Hurdles and the No. 4 All-Time in Collegiate History!

Burrell was indeed a superstar in high school competing for Zachary.  He excelled in the 100m, 200m and 400m as well as the 110m Hurdles.  Though he could have moved to the 300m Hurdles during what ended up being a COVID cancelled season, he never ran the long hurdles early in his track career.

His first 400m Hurdle was running 50.93 at LSU on April 3rd.  Despite not winning the SEC Championship, Burrell was slowly getting faster and faster with each meet of his freshman year.

Burrell placed 4th in the prelims on Wednesday just off his personal best at the time 48.86 and clearly had a lot left in the tank as he coasted to the finals.

The sky seems to be the limit for Burrell in this event following the success he's had in 2021.  Burrell will move on to the Olympic Trials next week where he will move up to be the No. 2 overall seed after tonight's performance.
