Loyola cross country at the Mobile Rampage Meet

Mobile, Ala.- In a tune up before the conference championships, Loyola men’s and women’s cross country team continued to show improvement with eight athletes posting personal bests at the Mobile Rampage Cross Country Meet on the campus of the University of Mobile.

Kieran Harper continued to lead the men’s team. Harper was the first Loyola runner over the line for the sixth consecutive race. He completed the 5k course in a time of 17:27 to finish second. It was the eighth fastest 5k in Loyola history and a personal best for the freshman from Kings Park, NY. 

Other competitors for the Wolfpack included Kenny Tsao 18:16 (10th), Galen Westerfield 18:23 (14th), Alex Mayon 18:24 (15th), Adam Mayon 18:53 (19th), Alex Hall 19:00 (20th), Chris Graugnard 19:56 (24th), and Justin Fecke 20:46 (28th). Tsao, Alex Mayon, Adam Mayon, Hall, and Graugnard each posted personal bests.

The men’s squad finished with 59 points- good for second out of the five teams that scored. In the same meet last year, the Loyola men finished last with 118 points.

In the women’s 5k race, Hannah Dougherty led the Wolfpack with a 19:39 to finish in third place. It was the third fastest 5k in Loyola history and a personal best for the freshman from Seattle.

Madeline Falcone was fifth in a time of 20:58. Loyola had three other competitors in the race- Mary Clara Hutchison 11th in a time of 22:47, Lauren Fereday 12th in a time of 22:51, and Olivia Taylor 20th in a time of 25:58. It was a personal best for Hutchison.

Loyola finished with 47 points which was third out of the four teams that scored.

The Wolfpack returns to action on Saturday, November 7 at the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championships in Clinton, Mississippi.
